CLOVERFIELD

I Feel: good good

I saw. I like. A LOT!

- The shaky camera didn't turn me off. Maybe it helped that I watched it way in the back of the theater (thanks to the reviews that gave me this tip!). I didn't feel dizzy or anything.
- The style is indeed a gimmick. But who said gimmick is a bad thing? It's just gonna be bad if the content is crap. In this case, it is not.
- You can all whine about the characters not being "lovable" or "rootable" enough. That's not the point of this movie. Yeah I know it's kind of stupid what they did. I somewhat agree, but does not all people get illogical at times when it comes to "love"?
- Those who are complaining that they wanted to see more of the monster...wait, I'm not even going there.
- I was satisfied with the ending. And I think the ending flashback scene was brilliantly placed too.

I came to watch this film with this thought in mind: that it would simulate an amateurish feel of video-taking (what can you expect from people shitting their pants? It was a really scary scenario!), and that it would try to be as real as it can get (cue randomness/human diversity). I didn't feel the need to dig deeper to the characters or to the story as I would normally do to the films I see. Cloverfield is pure and simple. IT IS A MONSTER MOVIE FROM A VIDEO CAMERA PERSPECTIVE.

I took Cloverfield for what it is and I enjoyed it very much. I just hope you find the same satisfaction I had.
