11.29.08 - HAIRSPRAY

Lalah game me free tickets to Hairpray! Wahoo! So I asked Joanna to come and watch it with me. We had a blast! She then treated me to an awesome dinner.

The best things in life are sometimes free.

<lj-embed id="45" />

So some new stuff arrived:

The UK music shop still didn't get Las Pinas City right! Hehe!

The very awesome score of Swingle Singers' Carol Medley!

And the very catchy It Was A Lover and His Lass by Ward Swingle! (I was trying to imitate Ward's smile. I'm crazy like that.)

*Thanks to Ate Myrna for funding the Carol Medley score and the shipping!
A SWINGLE MORNING

So I'm still a bit sick, but definitely feeling a lot better than the other day. I still have a cough and I'm hating it. Anyway, I got a nice surprise when I woke up a while ago when I saw that the mail I was waiting for was finally delivered to me!

Note that they wrote Las Piatas City intead of Las Piñas City! Haha! Anyway, the mail came from a music shop somewhere in UK where I ordered 2 music sheets of my current favorite Swingle Singers tracks:

The oh so wonderful Danny Boy and...

The super jazzy arrangement of Joshua Fought The Battle of Jericho!

So yeah, despite of the sickness, I managed to be happy about the delivery. There really is something orgasmic about opening a package, or a mail. Geeky, I know.

QUICK POST

Just to let everyone know that I am still alive. I am happy as one can be, if you insist on knowing. I'm working on some things which ironically makes me both busy (to mind other things) and unbusy (lots of waiting...patience is the key).

So yes. I'm just here. I might not be blogging but I'm reading your updates. I'll post again if there's anything interesting happening. :)

<lj-embed id="43" />
It was finally nice to meet Nard and Mike in person! *Nard, I never expected you to be that...uhm, stocky?! Hehe! And I thought Mike was gonna be a lot bigger! Pictures can fool!!!

I also invited Jim, Ardee, and Richard because Nard was telling me that we could do a podcast recording here. So we did that in their hotel room and went to have dinner at a nearby restaurant.

Thanks for the dinner, Nard! We all had a blast! :)

NOTHING EVER MATTERS ANYMORE

*NOTE* I'm letting off steam with this post. Don't read if you don't want to hear me ranting. Also, I'm gonna be quite cryptic with this post. Or maybe make it more general so the others can relate it to their own experiences. I'm not involved but I know the story. And I just feel the need to say some things about it.

First, a question: How do you deal with a misunderstanding with someone in your family, or say with a good friend? Note that this someone has a good track record, meaning, he/she had been nothing but nice. What do you do?

Tell me if I'm wrong, but isn't it proper to try and calmly talk to the person in question, verify everything and see if there really is a good reason to get mad at him/her? And even if you do find him/her making a mistake, does it give you any right to spew angry and degrading words, even when the person is asking for apology, and trying to explain everything that lead to the event that you are having problems with? And again, he/she is part of the family. Or maybe a good friend. Would you do that?

I can't. Because familial relationship or friendship matters to me. I will talk to the person without any judgment. Verify everything. Weigh things. See if he/she has good enough reason about the event. Because once I see any sense to why it happened, I will start to understand. And I will start to think of a resolution that would work for the both of us. Because more than anything else, the bond that we have is more important than a petty misunderstanding.

But I can only be myself. I cannot be you or any other person. And true enough, what happened was the complete opposite. Hateful words thrown, making threats, spreading the whole misunderstanding like it's the most important news when it can be easily settled. All that FRIGGIN' jazz! It's like getting a grade of A for MudSling101.

How can people just accuse someone and not hear him/her reason out? How can people easily jump in the bandwagon without knowing the real deal? And how can people be such very good backstabbers?

It's INJUSTICE written all over. And it cuts deep. Very, very deep. Because you guys are family. You guys are friends. Or so I thought.

Nobody deserves this bullshit. I wouldn't even wish it to my worst enemy. I'm all for fairness.

So with the way things are going, it seems that familial bond or friendship is worth nothing. It's okay. It's a choice anyway. Everyone can choose whatever he/she wants to value in life.

It's just disappointing.

So nothing ever matters to you anymore. Oh wait! There is that one thing that does matter to you!

MONEY!

WORDS?

Day by day, I feel like we're getting closer. We have this unspoken understanding between us. No words needed. Actions do speak louder.

The gap is big. But in between lies a great amount of love and care only our hearts would ever decipher. I feel it to be so.

DECISIONS, DECISIONS...

*HUGE SIGH*

Sometimes, I hate the feeling that we are growing up. Everyday is like a constant reminder that we are getting old. Not that I mind aging physically. It's just that everything is getting more complex. The older you get, the more responsibilities you have.

Responsibilities. It's my responsibility to give back to my family (even if they are saying that it isn't). It's my responsibility to be a good friend to others. It's my responsibility to be a good citizen. It's my responsibility to do something with my life.

My life. What is happening with my life? Am I fulfilled? Satisfied? Maybe in some aspects, yes. But I know I am lacking. I'm lacking because I know what I want, and I still don't have it. I'm trying to get there. I'm doing it at my own pace. I just don't know if my pace is good enough. Lots of decisions to be made.

Decisions. Major ones. I know I'm gonna make one eventually. Soon. But the sacrifice will also be major. It might even compromise that one satisfied aspect in my life.

I want to be a kid again.

KARAOKE NIGHT = FUN

Had a fun karaoke night with Jojo and friends. God knows how much I need some kind of unwinding like this. Couldn't have come at a better time. Woohoo!

I'M SUCH A YOUTUBE GEEK...

<lj-embed id="37" />

Why do I love thee:

1. I love Weezer.
2. The song, as always, is catchy.
3. I got most of the references that they showed in the video. They featured characters and scenes from some of YouTube's most popular viral videos.

I'm such a YouTube geekazoid.

If you're not that much of a loser as I am but you're curious about the references, then click this link:
http://valleywag.com/392972/weezer-understands-how-to-work-youtube-allude-to-these-24-viral-videos

Yay! He visited me here at home a while ago and we just hung out here. It was really good to see him again! :)

HMMM...

So it seems like someone faked his death. I'm not gonna invest any emotion anymore, so I'll just leave it at that. I don't want to care anymore.

May you have a good life.

PS: The person in question is just a friend, not a special someone (eew).

MEME

I have nothing better to do. Got this from Shannon (plaghs).

1. My username is _____ because ____.

Carlski. I started using Carl as a nickname just about 5 years ago. The "ski" at the end is just how my friends and I would make a name more cute, like a Jim would be Jimski, or a Todd would be Toddski.

2. My name is _____ because ______.

Giancarlo. My mom picked the name for my 2 elder sisters and they both have "CAR" in them somewhere (Maria Carmencita & Maria Carmela). My dad asked my mom if he could name me that time around and he suggested Juan Carlos. Mom, still wanting some control over my name, suggested to make the name Italian, thus, Giancarlo.

3. My journal is titled ____ because ____.

Songs From The New Boom-Boom Room. My old blog in Xanga is the original Songs From The Boom-Boom Room. I chose that name because I was inspired by this Swedish film that won in Cannes called "Songs From The Second Floor." I replaced "Second Floor" with "Boom-Boom Room" instead to accurately portray my room where I always get to play my music as loud as I can.

4. My friends page is called ____ because ____.

Friends. I don't think there's a need for me to change it into something fancier.

5. My default userpic is ____ because ____.

Homo Sausage. Saw this from Engrish.com and I thought it was hilarious. I wonder how tasty it is...

THOUGHTS

1) I'm not the same person as I used to be. I definitely changed for the better. But as positive as it might seem, it's not something that I'm truly proud of. I just don't want to think that the things that I've done in the past were mistakes. They really weren't. I don't regret anything. I'm just more mature now, I believe.

2) My last 3 days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) were a real blast, thanks to my friends, old and new!

3) I had a short panic attack a while ago. I thought I was going crazy and it was alarming to see how I almost cried for no reason at all! I still don't know as to why it happened but I'm guessing that my brain took a lot of things that I'm worrying about and what I'm hoping for, all at the same time. I'm a very rational person and if my mind cannot fathom something, it scares the hell out of me.

4) It's ironic how simple things can make me feel all well again. Yes, I'm okay now. No need to worry! :)

A QUICKIE

My laptop is busted. For some odd reason, it just won't start. I'll be having it fixed this weekend.

My folks might get me a Macbook due to this. Keeping my fingers crossed!

*************************

I'm recovering from a flu I got last weekend. Throat is still a bit itchy, but it's more tolerable now.
